Pegasus Squadron participates in biggest Open House in Texas, Explore UT!

The event starts at 1100 and ends at 1700. My plan is for a recruiting booth to be set up with another table next to it with an aerospace activity to do (our listing in the ExploreUT brochure says we will be building rockets from alternate energy sources). Once we get the table set up, we can set up some kind of schedule like doing the activity every hour. For the cadets (and senior members too), we will be setting up an hourly shift schedule within the next couple of days so that the cadets can go and look around at other activities.

We are scheduled all day. SO WE NEED YOU!!! We need you to come volunteer to hang out, we need you to volunteer to help set up and take down the booth. This event has a HUGE potential for tremendous recruiting because there are literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of people who come to UT for this event, mostly prospective students! The URL address for this event is http://www.utexas.edu/events/exploreut/, so check it out.

Our booth will be on the south end of RLM (PDF). This location is great because it will give us tons of visibility for people going to and coming from the main engineering buildings!

The UOD will be civies with a CAP shirt (any shirt you have, whether it's squadron, CTEP, encampment, specialty school, it does not matter). Everyone who comes out and volunteers will receive a FREE ExploreUT tshirt which are not required but you may change into them when you get there. Because we are getting these shirts, I need everyone who is planning on being there (even if it is for only part of the day), to email me ASAP with your tshirt size. Even if you are not sure whether you can come, PLEASE EMAIL ME!!! The last thing I want is to have someone take the time to show up and not get the free tshirt (kind of like "been there, done that, got the tshirt").

PARKING IS FREE (in certain garages)!!! If you look on the website on the parking page it says where you can park for free (http://www.utexas.edu/events/exploreut/parking.html).

The booth MUST be set up NLT 1045 on Saturday, which means that whoever is planning on being there to help set up needs to be there NLT 1000. Plan on meeting at the booth's location. If you need directions on how to get there, either look them up on the ExploreUT website (http://www.utexas.edu/events/exploreut/), contact me for directions, or click here for the ExploreUT map with our location denoted with the Pegasus patch.

Clean-up will begin at 1640 (no earlier) and will take as long as it needs to in order to complete the task. BUT the more people we have helping to clean up, the faster it will get done and sooner we can all go home.

So what all this means is that WE NEED PEOPLE THERE FROM 1000 TO ABOUT 1700!!! We need cadets, we need senior members, and of course, parental support is always encouraged and greatly appreciated!!! Any parents who want to come out are more than welcome to although I probably won't be able to get a tshirt for them. But they can come and hang out with us and/or they can go around campus looking into different programs for when their children graduate and go off to college.
