2006 Texas Wing Cadet Competition

Prepping for the Inspection:

Guards getting in sync. Brrr...It's cold. Come huddle in the group to keep warm. Practicing reporting in for the inspection. Even though it was very cold, everyone was all smiles as the competition got started with the in-ranks inspection.

In-Ranks Inspection:

Waiting at the ready line to march onto the field.
Reporting to the judges. Team commanders were required to formally report in for each part of the competition.Being inspected by the judges. The judges this year were senior ROTC cadets from Baylor University.

The color guard competition in its entirety.Debriefing by the judges. The teams went through both general debriefing and individual debriefing for the standard drill and inspection.

Volleyball Competition:

Because there was only one drill team to compete, the color guards combined to scrimage with the drill team.

Prepping for the Indoor Presentation of Colors:

The color guard used a rarely used marching move called a ''counter march.'' It took a while to get it right, but turned out to look really neat.Practicing ''present arms'' while at the modified carry.Waiting at the ''ready line'' to begin the indoor presentation of colors.

The Awards Ceremony:

The Texas Wing Drill Team that will be competing at the Southwest Region Competition.The Pegasus Color Guard placed in the top three in all the events being judged and second overall!Cadet Hamman tied for the written exam High Score award.Cadet Hamman was also awarded the Outstanding Team Commander Award.Congratulations to the Thunderbird Color Guard! They will be representing the Texas Wing in the Southwest Region Competition.Col Eldridge presented MSgt Coleman with a Certificate of Appreciation for all his hard work in the Texas Wing.Thanks goes out to all those members who helped to make this competition run smoothly.
