January 2006 Awards Ceremony

Pre-Ceremony:

The Pegasus Composite Squadron Color Guard presented and retreived the colors at the start and finish of the ceremony. c/1LT Richard Pope, Jr., was the color guard commander and posted the American flag. The head table consisted of the new 3rd Group commander and vice commander, outgoing and incoming squadron commanders, and several other 3rd Group and Pegasus Squadron representatives.

The Speakers:
Maj J.D. Draper presented many of the awards given at the ceremony. The president of Concordia University, also a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, presented the keynote speech.

The Senior Member Awards:
Thanks go out to Maj Draper for his countless years of hard work in CAP as he is presented with a plaque of appreciation. 2LT Don Hart is presented with the Senior Member of the Year for continual support and pursuance of training in the last year.
LTC Don King presents several senior members with Texas Wing challenge coins for their continual support of the Wing. 2LT Mark Van Es is presented with the Aerospace Education Excellence Award.

The Cadet of the Year and Cadet NCO of the Year Awards:
c/LTC Joseph Devine was awarded the Cadet of the Year Award. c/CMSgt Peter French was awarded the Cadet NCO of the Year Award.

The Billy E. Mitchell Award:
The three Mitchell candidates take the Officer Corps Oath. c/CMSgt Rachel Ball was awarded the Billy Mitchell Award. c/CMSgt Kevin Glenn was also awarded the Billy Mitchell Award.
c/CMSgt Peter French was the third awardee of the Billy Mitchell Award this year. The parents of the awardees create a 'flash from the past' powerpoint presentation and are given the chance to put the new Lieutenant's pips on the awardees.

Change of Command Ceremony:
The group commander presided over the change of command from Maj Draper to 1LT Daren Jaeger. The new squadron commander, 1LT Jaeger, presided over the cadet change of command from c/LTC Joseph Devine to c/1LT Richard Pope, Jr.
