Looking for one of America's best kept secrets? Well, here it is. Civil Air Patrol! That’s right – CAP. But didn't that go out with Civil Defense? If you’re old enough, some of you might remember, “Duck and Cover!”, when you would go diving under your school desk. That's the surprise! Neither program is at the forefront of the nation's awareness as in the past. But, from my perspective, Civil Air Patrol continues to evolve along its current missions:

  • Search and Rescue (SAR)

  • Cadet Programs

  • Aerospace Education

Stop! Don't want the same old long-winded mantra? Where's the cool stuff?

Very well, in a nutshell, you can:

  • Have the chance to fly in light aircraft;

  • Use dedicated radio systems for ground to ground, ground to air, and statewide communications (without a satellite);

  • Practice radio direction finding and global positioning techniques;

  • Work in small specialized teams in urban areas and natural terrain;

  • Experiment in aerospace engineering;

  • Wear military-style uniforms and earn rank;

  • Learn military customs and courtesies, and develop a professional bearing that will serve you for life;

  • Even earn better credentials for college admission.

In short, for young men and women (and those just young at heart), you can experience and enjoy an environment in which you can learn and practice some of the best and most exciting lessons in life.

Come discover one of America's best kept secrets – Civil Air Patrol.
