Name: Cadet Training and Education Program (CTEP)
Dates: 2-4 October 2009
Description: CTEP is the Cadet Training and Education Program for Texas Wing. It is the overall program for Wing Cadet activities. Formed in 1998, CTEP is meant to standardize and run cadet activities throughout the Wing. CTEP Executive Staff is composed of cadets and seniors from around the Wing. It is a group planning, designing, organizing, and running Wing cadet activities under the supervision of the Wing Director of Cadet Programs.

Name: Texas Wing Cadet Competition
Dates: TBD
Description: Across the country, cadets compete at various levels in cadet competition. Cadet Competition includes several different categories of color guard, drill team, knowledge, and physical fitness. Cadets compete in teams. As teams win, they advance up to the next level. Teams from across Texas compete in February in the Texas Wing Cadet Competition.

Name: Texas Wing Encampment
Dates: 13-20 June 2009
Description: An encampment can be the most significant and worthwhile training experience of a CAP cadet's membership. Training is what the encampment is all about. Encampments are designed to provide CAP members the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the cadet and senior programs to practical situations and challenge the individual to exceed. In addition to the standard curriculum required by the CAPR 52-16, each encampment location offers its own special activities. Encampments are memorable experiences that cadets will talk about for the rest of their CAP careers and will cherish the rest of their lives. Encampments are the foundation in a cadet's career and a solid training experience that will put cadets on the road to success in the Texas Wing and Civil Air Patrol.

Name: Texas Wing Powered Flight Academy
Dates: 18-25 July 2009
Description: Many cadets in CAP are very interested in aviation and flying in general. The TXWG Powered Flight Academy offers to Texas Cadets the opportunity to learn to fly a Cessna aircraft, and at the end of the academy, the possibility of solo flight.

Name: Ground Search And Rescue Specialty School (GSARSS)

Description: GSARSS (pronounced GSARS) is a high speed very intensive training program designed to provide cadets with extensive emergency services training resulting in a fully qualified ground team member. Basic GSARSS is designed to cater to those looking to get GTM 3. Basic First Aid and CPR certifications are received as well. Advanced GSARSS completes the American Red Cross certification in Introduction to Disaster Services, Shelter Management, and Damage Assessment, and trains from the SARTECH-II curriculum. At the end of the week, students are put through the National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR) written and practical exams in an effort to earn the SARTECH-II rating, a nationally recognized SAR classification.

Name: 2009 International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE), Texas Program
Dates: 2010 IACE TBD
Description: The International Cadet Exchange (IACE) provides selected youth and adults an opportunity to serve as "ambassadors" to participating countries and promote international goodwill, friendship and understanding. In each city, they stay with host families who have members in the Civil Air Patrol and get to tour around the state with senior member and cadet escorts. This year, we have ten people from overseas coming to visit Texas. To get involved with this event, please email LTC Dawn King.

Name: Texas Wing Page Program

Description: This is an exciting new program in the Texas Wing. If you are interested in how our government is run, this program is for you. This one-day program takes place during an active session of the Texas Legislature. Cadets accepted into the program will sit on the Senate floor, meet their senators, and watch how our elected officials shape our lives. You must be 16 years old, and have excellent grooming and uniform standards. You application must have a letter of recommendation from your unit commander, as well as your group commander.
